Hot

Man, it is HOT here. Geez-oh-peets, Bro, you'd love it. Mid '90's, heat index over 100, humidity thick enough to swim in... ew.

Bubba is all stretched out on the floor, all long and opened up. He's GOTTA be hot with all that fur. I should give him a bath, he's a dirty kitty. That's one reason he got the name "Bubba;" he doesn't groom himself well. Def not a Metrosexual Kitty.

Just babbling. Gotta go to work. Thank goodness for AC at the bookstore! If we have power, that is. We lost power due to a malfunction at the power station (Power Station!)

AAAAaaaanyway, I don't know if power has been restored yet. Regardless, I'm late. oopsie!

Fresh

Sis, what do you think of the new layout? Good? Boring? I made the fonts bigger so you don't have to wear your glasses to read the posts. hee hee!!!

Anyone have a comment? Anyone? Beuller? Beuller? Beuller? Beuller?

updated to add
Yeah, the change didn't last. I didn't like the white background. It was harsh! I like COLOR! I wish I could figure out how to do colored/differently sized fonts....

Champers

Today is Mr. Handsome's birthday! Happy birthday Mr. Handsome!
I LOVE you!

Look what a beautiful little boy he was! He's been Handsome his whole life! Lucky, lucky me...!

We went to his latest fave restaurant, Corez, and has a truly amazingly delish meal, with really wonderful service. And it's pretty in there. It all counts! We had a very nice time. It's a great place!

I'm still twice-a-day pet sitting and working, too, so time is limited (must read, of course), but thought this quote cute enough to share.

Lily Bollinger was asked "When do you drink champagne?", and replied:

"I only drink champagne when I'm happy, and when I'm sad.
Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone.
When I have company, I consider it obligatory.
I trifle with it if I am not hungry and drink it when I am.
Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty."

I haven't had any bubbly recently, but I do love it. It's a happy bev!

chores

Today is chore day. I just finished scrubbing the bathrooms and vacuuming the whole house. Man, this house is big. I mean, not for some people. For some people, it's just a cottage, I'm sure, but for me, it's big. It's a lot to clean! Ugh. And all I can see is what I haven't done yet. I don't get that satisfied feeling, like, "I just did a lot of work and I can tell and it was worth it!" Nope. There's always more to do. Which is why I'm posting a blog entry. heh.

I'm babysitting two kitties who need medicine and to be hand-fed. Twice a day I visit them. They are darling mews and I love them. It is time-consuming, though, because you just can't rush the meds. Cats and pills are not a happy combo. Poor kitties.

Tonight I've got book club and we'll be discussing Persuasion, my FAVORITE Jane Austen

book! I'm very excited about it! And nervous. What if the other women didn't like it? They do have a tendency to chose tragic, heart-breaking, depressing stories. ick. Well-written or not, I do NOT need help getting depressed by reading a book! There are SOOOOOoooooo many other choices out there! Well-written ones, too! We'll see how long I last in this book club. What I really enjoy, though, are the other women. They read the book, have pertinent observations to make, are not afraid to respectfully challenge each other or to give their real opinions. The discussion stays pretty much on topic, which is GREAT! And, of course, there is wine. And food!

Universe lessons

The universe is trying to teach me the same lesson it's been trying to teach me since the sixth grade. I'm really trying to listen, to learn, and I think I've made a little progress this last time around. Here's hoping the lesson sticks! It's about self-control, regret, forgiveness, hope. All serious stuff. All stuff I need to keep at the front of my mind!

Welcome Home!

One of my bestest friends moved back here recently! YAY! I've missed him, his quirky sense of humor, his passion, his nuttiness, his creativity... a good friend. Mr. Handsome and I took him to Corez last night and it was, as ALWAYS, delicious! It was great to hang out with him and have some laughs.

Welcome home, Drum Man!

Ahhhh... reading!

This is a GREAT idea!
"Grab a book and go outside
June 4, 2009 - 8:06 AM
MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan's Department of Natural Resources is teaming up with public libraries for a unique summer program. You can stop by the library, check out a book and then check out a one-day pass to get into any state park or recreation area.
It's called Park and Read. Many of the parks will also have hammocks available for free to anyone participating in the program."

We have a hammock. It's never been used. This is a TRAGEDY! I'm gonna have to get that sucker set up somehow. We don't have a stand and I bought it to go between two trees at the Hobby House, but one of those trees had to be taken down, so now the hammock has nowhere to hang. sad. But I've GOT to figure SOMETHING out! Reading outside, in a gently swinging hammock is one of life's great pleasures!

I'm reading A Duty to the Dead, which is really good! A story set in 1916, about a British Hospital-Ship nurse who gets involved with old betrayals and murder! Neat!

ROCK

After watching two days of hard rock documentaries and videos, I realized I loved a LOT of the songs and knew all the words to many of them. wow. I LOVE eight of the 10 songs on the linked list. They ALWAYS get turned up on my car radio.

I am interested in considering finding out more about getting poison in my face. I think it's time.

other people's houses

I love pet sitting. Especially when I'm kinda house-sitting, too. I get to enjoy their cable AND their pets! Last night I spent over three hours with the pets. Some of that time was watching part of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on cable. Tons of commercial interruptions. Very distracting. So, tonight, I brought my own video of HPatGOF over and watched the whole thing (with the furries, of course).

The Weasley twins are hot in this movie (I like their height and their hair!)

I like the Bulgarian Bon Bon, too! Or, at least, I like his dedication to Hermione and I like his nickname (from Rita Skeeter).

The furry babies like having a human around, I think. And I like being around the furries! It's a win-win!

Back to work tomorrow. Now it's time for bed.
