Fri Night
Just got home, drinking a lovely red (Colonia Las Libres Bonarda), eating Doritos, trolling the innertubes. Ahhhhh.....
Look at this: stars in Hawaii (is that snow?!?)
Hey, I just realized that I've been blogging (somewhat) regularly for TWO years! holy fecal material. How time flies. My first post was about Bubba, who is, right now, asking for attention. awwwwww......

snow dogs
Well, we got at least three inches of snow last night. Mr Handsome and I just finished clearing it off the slope, driveway and sidewalk. My back isn't seizing, so that's good! It's just sore, like muscle-ache now. I think it's time to get off my @$$ and start getting some exercise! The sun is out and finishing the job of clearing the concrete, so I'm glad we got out there and shoveled. Everything (almost) had melted last week, 'cause we had over 60F weather! Crazy weather. Crazy. I got immediately accustomed to seeing green and brown instead of white! Now, it's all white again. Pretty! But I'm as ready for Spring as anyone. * sigh * I'm tired of automatically putting on two to three layers of clothing every day! And then a coat over THAT! * sigh *
So, a little (pun intended) w00t-w00t to Michigan Dog Lovers! A Michigan chihuahua won Best of Breed at Westminster Dog Show! Look how cute DeeDee is! Awww.....!

If I get a dog, I'll get a pound-pooch (or another rescued a dog).
Just looking around at purebreds, I like this one!
Bichon frise!
I really like these dogs, too. I seem to be in the mood today for small, foofy dogs! Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Sweet, pretty, loving. YAY!
I used to want an irish wolfhound. But I've decided against a giant breed. I want a dog I can carry if I have to (injury, sickness, etc). After working at the vet clinic and seeing many, many people who couldn't carry their dogs in for treatment in an emergency, that is the decision I made. Also, after being a pet-sitter, it occurred to me that if one of the big labradoodles or labs or rotties or shepherds or malamutes that I baby-sat had to be carried, I couldn't do it! So, a less-than-80# dog for me! Still, irish wolfhounds are so noble and elegant and lovely. They have a prescence, a regalness to them.... I really like that breed.
The Queen Mum liked 'em, too!
I've been watching "Heroes: Volume 1" for the past couple of days (on DVD). Spy Master loves this show and I can see why! Adventure! Magic! Romance! Explosions and gore! I started watching the new season, got sucked in, and decided I wanted to know the back story, so got the DVDs from the library. Good ol' library! What a fanTAStic resource! I've also got "Henry V" with Kenneth Branagh (such a baby-face, 20 years ago). It's such an exciting story! Talk about adventure!
Well, I hope you're having a good weekend. Do something fun!

Opera!
Mr. Handsome and I are goig to see Donizetti's "The Elixir of Love" for Valentine's Day! Actually, we got the tickets from his parents, who have season tickets but are going to be out of town. We'd go see anything, anytime; it just happens to be Valentine's Day. But, what the hay! It should be fun!
Updated 2/28 ('cause I'm always late)
Poor Mr Handsome caught a head cold and just felt lousy, so we didn't go. Which I did a happy dance about, even though I LOVE opera (the singing! the costumes! the OTT acting! loveitall!), because my back is still sore and sitting for three hours in the venue's small, hard seats didn't sound fun. We just stayed home and watched videos!

Much better!
My back is almost pain free! YAY! I've been reading lots, which is absolutely my FAVE thing to do in the whole wide world. I used to have a shelfari thingy on here, but it flaked out on me. Maybe I'll try to put another reading thingy up, like Library Thing or something. Do you like the little thingys on the side? Like the chimes and Miss Maukie? I love stuff like that! But I do't love Face Book, which is pretty much JUST stuff like that, combined with message boards. I dunno... I just can't get into it.
So, today, since I'm almost pain-free, I SHOULD paint the dining room. Will I? HA! What do you think? If I could paint like this, I'd paint it happily! Alas, I'm limited to rollers and brushes and no special effects at all.
The dining room, as seen from the living room. I just don't know what color to choose!
Now, just 'cause they're cute, the Furry Ones!

Sleep is good
Mr Handsome and I went out for dinner with Book Doctor tonight after work. It was crazy; a dude walked into the bookstore at 6:15 (oops, I didn't lock the door at 6:00), so of course we didn't kick him out! He only spent $5, but, what the hey, maybe he'll come on back! THEN, when Dude was just about to leave, a lady came in, "just browsing." 6:40! Wow! We really could stay open later! But would it be worth it? She only spent $3, which is better than nothing, but, still.... So, that was weird.
Anyway, we went out to a place in East called Olives. It was ok. They, also, were SUPER busy! To which I say, YAY! I'm glad people came into the bookstore late and I'm glad Olive's was busy! They were short-handed, so it was slow-going, but our waitress was nice, it's a reasonably-priced place, the food is ok. And Book Doctor is totally fun to hang out with. She's having a very interesting life and can really tell a good story. I had a veggie-casseroley thing (a little bit bland, but ok) and Mr. Handsome had salmon, which he thought was over-cooked. Book Doctor totally won the Dinner Competition with the beef goulash. It was scrumptious! I should have tried the pot roast; I bet it was yummy! Comfort food = good!
Tomorrow, and for the next few days, I'll be taking care of my FAVORITE dog in the whole wide world, Samba! So, I've got to go to sleep, since I've got to get up very early to visit him. I have GOT to SLEEP! It's so difficult for me, sleeping. I'm just not a good sleeper. I lie there and fret. worry worry worry worry worry worry worry. About stuff that happened years ago, yesterday, today, and that might happen tomorrow. Ridiculous. Waste of time. AAAAAaaarrrrrgh!!! Anyway, here's wishing YOU sweet dreams!
